For the Babies
Lamaze Clip & Go Squeezy Donkey $14.99
Lamaze toys were all the rage in the mommy and baby class I attended with my first son and it didn’t take us long to figure out why. They’re oversized, plush, and have lots of fun stuff for baby to pull and chew on. Plus they’re durable – all of ours lasted through all three kids.
Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes $7.19
You know those lovely early months when many babies scream just about the ENTIRE time they’re in the car? This musical toy that’s easy to hold and has buttons big enough for baby to push on his own was the only thing that ever got my kids to stop – it was worth it’s weight in gold I tell ya. It was also great for getting my babies’ attention in times of non-stress.
Duck & Goose Plush Pair $14.95 with your favorite Duck & Goose Board Book
This is what’s going in our 20-month-old’s stocking this year. He absolutely loves these guys!
Bath Toys
Bath toys are one of my go-tos for stockings every year. I absolutely love them because they keep big kids happy in the tub and entice smaller kids to get in- such a great way to pass some time too! We’ve had the Boon frog shaped bath toy holder and the Boon Water Bugs and Net toy for years so when the company offered to send us samples of their newest bath toys, listed below, we jumped at the chance.
Boon Chomp Hungry Whale Bath Toy $9.99
Squeeze CHOMP’s tail fin and his soft, flexible jaw opens wide enough to gobble up sea creatures. Not only is he cute, he encourages hand-eye coordination too.
ALEX Rub-a-Dub Water Flutes $8.52
Tune the water flutes by dunking them underwater and filling until they reach the right level designated for each note. The squares and circles on each flute signify notes that can be followed with the included song sheets. To drain, just push the bottom cap up and twist. Hang the flutes in the holder and let them dry until the next musical bath performance.
Boon Marco Light-Up Bath Toy $17.99
MARCO loves to peek at you from just below the water line then take off on deep-sea missions where his water-activated color-changing light can guide the way.
Boon Tones Musical Bath Boats $17.99
Each TONE has a whistle with three volumes—Low, Medium and High—that blows when the top of the boat is tapped. They even attach together by their rings for safe passage across Bathtub Bay. All aboard for fun!
Characters Your Kids Love
Regardless of their age, you can never go wrong picking your kiddos’ favorite movie or book character (see Duck & Goose above). Here are a few items that look particularly fun.
LEGO Kids’ Emmet Watch with Minifigure Link $19.99
Because every boy I know hearts LEGO (and the LEGO Movie).
Disney Frozen Magiclip Elsa Doll $5.99
My daughter has a set of Disney Princess Magiclip Dolls and plays with them for hours. I love that they don’t take up much space and are cheap and she loves their interchangeable plastic dresses that come on and off with a simple squeeze.
The Good Dinosaur Talking Plush, Arlo $19.99
This guys is also en route to our home courtesy of the manufacturer. We haven’t seen the movie yet but it’s on our winter break list and once we do I know this new talking friend will get a lot of love around here.
Extra Special Books
I wasn’t sure what to call these (activity books?) so I just went with extra fun! The jokes will be sure to have anyone under 10 in stitches and the Pokeman Handbook is a total must have for any kid you know that’s getting into trading or playing the cards (going in my first-graders stocking this year!)
Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids (Book) $2.89
Pokeman Deluxe Essential Handbook $7.54
Card Games
Sushi Go! The Pick & Pass Card Game $10.50
A super cute and super fun card game that the whole family will love.
Sleeping Queens Card Game $9.99
Invented by 6-year-old Miranda Evarts, this fantasy card game helps develop memory, strategy, and elementary arithmetic skills. Plus, many parents report it often leads to a lot of dramatic play fun once the game is over. I also appreciate the gender neutrality of this game, with queens, kings, knights and more, reviewers rave that both their sons and daughters ask to play again and again. Plus, the game doesn’t drag on too long (always a plus) with average play time being around 15 minutes.
Eeboo Color Go Fish Playing Cards $9.99
This beautiful card set uses colors instead of the traditional numbers for Go Fish. This was one of the very first games I started playing with my son. It was easy for him to understand since no numbers or reading were involved and helped him learn his colors. He still enjoys playing it several years later, now with his 5-year-old sister who adores it too. In fact, this is often the game they first choose to play together alone.
Arts & Crafts
Melissa & Dough Bookmark Scratch Art Kit $4.99
Garden Fairies Scratch & Sketch Pad $8.93
Both of these take me back to the rainbow scratch cards I loved as a kid.
Travel Spirograph $14.54
Awesome for road trips!
America Girl Crafts Nail Stickers $7.69
Melissa & Doug Design-Your-Own Bracelets $4.45
My 5-year-old daughter has been asking for this kit since she spied it in Target a few months ago– and you can’t beat the price!
For the Investigator
Handcrafted Nautical Solid Brass Magellan Compass – $14.99
This just strikes me as such a cool gift to find in your stocking as a kid. It’s shiny and a little bit mysterious, maybe even magical.
Be Amazing Toys: Test Tube Adventures $19.99
Buy the kit and split it up, one or two experiment tubes per stocking.
For Tons of Fun
Hog Wild Animal Popper $10.75
Let the popper fights begin! (Hint: There are tons of different character options.)
Educational Insights Puppets-on-a-Stick, Set of 3 (Monsters) $8.8-
I got the unicorn version of this for my daughter’s stocking this Christmas. I’m so impressed by the size of these things and the working mouths– she’s gonna have so much fun putting on puppet shows behind the couch with them!
